Skylights light up several floors in terrace house

Natural daylight streams through two stacked GLASSFLOOR® elements, from the rooftop terrace all the way down to the basement of a townhouse. This allows the light to be directed deep into the building across multiple levels.

The walk-on skylights blend seamlessly and elegantly into the living space. At the same time, they create a bright, open feel and combine high-quality architecture with efficient use of natural light.

Custom-made:
20-metre-long skylight

A 20 × 1 m skylight strip brings natural daylight into the swimming pool below, creating a bright, open, and pleasant atmosphere in the space. Another skylight strip measuring 8.5 × 0.7 m was integrated into a seating area and provides the fitness room below with daylight. This makes this area significantly brighter, more inviting, and more functional.

The custom-made GLASSFLOOR® skylights were installed on-site and blend seamlessly into the architecture. The project was carried out in collaboration with the engineering firm Atelier Glasnhof.

an underground sports hall

The new "Schule und Sport Ried" building, a primary school in Köniz (BE), clearly demonstrates the qualities of GLASSFLOOR®: compact construction with high-quality natural lighting, without sacrificing valuable outdoor space.

As part of the project, Heliobus® and GLASSFLOOR® were responsible for the daylight calculations as well as the sizing, placement, and number of walk-on skylights. The goal was to achieve optimal natural lighting in the underground sports hall.

The walk-on skylights direct natural light into the rooms below while allowing for unrestricted use of the space above. In this way, GLASSFLOOR® combines efficient use of space, high-quality natural light, and architectural integration into a single system.
