GLASSFLOOR Project reference

Heliobus AG sets new standards for walk-on fire-resistant glass - extension of fire protection to double and triple ISO glazing!

Outdoor in an urban environment. The picture shows a walk-in fire protection skylight.

Heliobus® has expanded its existing VKF certification for its walkable fire-resistant glass products GLASSFLOOR® FIRESTOP REI 30, REI 60, and REI 120.

The certification now also covers double- and triple-pane insulated glazing, which has been tested under rigorous conditions in accordance with EN 1363-1 and EN 1365-2. The test results were reviewed by the Association of Cantonal Fire Insurers (VKF) and approved for use in Switzerland.

Heliobus® thus offers walk-on skylights that combine natural light, safe walkability, and certified fire protection in a single system. Depending on the model, GLASSFLOOR® FIRESTOP elements meet fire resistance ratings of REI 30, REI 60, or REI 120.

The GLASSFLOOR® FIRESTOP REI 120 model, featuring triple-pane insulated glazing and a glass thickness of 169 mm, is particularly sophisticated. It was developed for building applications where high standards for fire protection, load-bearing capacity, natural light, thermal insulation, and architectural integration all come together.

The systems provide structural integrity for the respective tested fire resistance duration: up to 30 minutes for REI 30, up to 60 minutes for REI 60, and up to 120 minutes for REI 120. For international projects, the relevant country-specific fire safety regulations and approval requirements must also be taken into account.

With GLASSFLOOR® FIRESTOP, Heliobus® underscores its expertise in developing safe, durable, and architecturally sophisticated daylighting solutions for buildings with heightened technical and fire safety requirements.
